The Nashville Shambhala Meditation Group was founded by a small group of people deeply inspired by the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist scholar and meditation master, and by the vision of Shambhala International, the organization he founded. We offer regular weekly meditation and study sessions in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, as well as Shambhala training sessions, retreats, celebrations, gatherings, and other special events.
Shambhala is a worldwide organization rooted in a vision of basic human goodness, decency, intelligence, and dignity. Shambhala offers a rich path of practice and study, the foundation of which is a strong emphasis on shamatha (peaceful abiding) meditation. Through the practice of meditation, we come to recognize that the natural state of our minds is one of stability, clarity, strength and resilience, and we awaken to the possibility of both personal and social transformation.
Though deeply inspired by the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, the Shambhala tradition is a secular one. All are welcome to participate, regardless of spiritual tradition or lack thereof.
It is the Shambhala view that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and intelligence. This nature can be cultivated through meditation, following ancient principles, and it can be further developed in daily life, so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.
Sunday Morning Meditation
Every Sunday Morning, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
Please join us on Sunday mornings for weekly group meditation practice. Traditional seated and walking meditation is followed by time for study, discussion and socializing. No experience required - open to beginners and experienced meditators alike. Instruction in a simple meditation technique (in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition) will be provided for those interested.

Wednesday Evening Meditation
Every Wednesday Evening, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Join us every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm for Wednesday Evening Meditation. Each Wednesday we'll begin with a simple group meditation in the Shambhala tradition (instruction provided). This will be followed by refreshments and social time.
In coming weeks, we'll offer additional activities on Wednesday evenings, such as Dharma talks, videos, Dharma movie nights, Shamatha yoga, open house events, and more (suggestions for particular activities are most welcome!).
These events are free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend!
